About the IP Information

The IP Information tool resolves any public IPv4 or IPv6 address into rich context: approximate geolocation (country, region, city), the owning ASN and organization, the ISP, and the local timezone. It also surfaces risk signals such as proxy, VPN, hosting, and datacenter flags so you can tell residential traffic from infrastructure. Use it to investigate suspicious connections, vet visitors, or simply understand where an address lives on the internet.

How to use

  1. Enter the IPv4 or IPv6 address you want to investigate.
  2. Click Lookup to query the geolocation and ASN data.
  3. Review the location, ISP, and organization fields for context.
  4. Check the proxy, VPN, and hosting flags to assess the address type.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is IP geolocation?
Country-level accuracy is very high, but city-level results are estimates derived from registry and ISP data and can be off by tens of miles, especially for mobile or VPN traffic.
What is an ASN?
An Autonomous System Number identifies the network that announces routes for the IP. It tells you which organization controls the address block, such as an ISP or cloud provider.
Why is an address flagged as hosting or proxy?
Addresses that belong to datacenters, VPN providers, or known proxy services are flagged because the traffic is unlikely to come from a normal home or mobile user.
