About the VPN & Proxy Detection
This tool checks whether your current connection looks like a VPN, proxy or data-center (hosting) IP address rather than a normal residential ISP connection. It uses IP intelligence — the proxy and hosting flags associated with your IP — to give a quick verdict, along with your ISP, organization, ASN and location.
How to use
- Open the page — your connection is checked automatically.
- See the verdict: VPN/proxy/hosting detected, or a regular ISP connection.
- Review the supporting details (ISP, ASN, flags).
Frequently asked questions
- How accurate is VPN detection?
- It's a strong signal but not perfect. Detection relies on whether the IP is known as a proxy or sits in a data center. Some VPNs use residential IPs and evade detection, and some flagged IPs are legitimate.
- Does a 'hosting' flag mean I'm using a VPN?
- Not necessarily. It means the IP belongs to a data center / cloud provider, which is common for VPNs and proxies but also for some corporate and cloud connections.
