About the SSL / TLS Check

The SSL / TLS Check inspects the certificate a host presents over HTTPS and reports its issuer, validity period, days remaining until expiry, the full chain of trust, and the negotiated cipher. It is the fastest way to confirm a certificate is valid, properly chained, and not about to expire. Use it to avoid surprise outages from lapsed certificates and to verify your TLS configuration.

How to use

  1. Enter the hostname you want to inspect, such as example.com.
  2. Click Check to establish a TLS connection.
  3. Review the issuer, validity dates, and days remaining.
  4. Verify the certificate chain and negotiated cipher.

Frequently asked questions

What does days remaining tell me?
It is the number of days until the certificate expires. Renew well before this reaches zero to prevent browsers from showing security warnings.
Why does the certificate chain matter?
Browsers trust a certificate only if it links back to a trusted root through valid intermediate certificates. A broken or incomplete chain causes trust errors.
What is the cipher and why is it shown?
The cipher suite is the encryption algorithm negotiated for the connection. Reviewing it helps confirm the server uses modern, secure settings.
